1. Who we are
Gav App is a village services app for Gram Panchayat residents in Maharashtra. It lets you follow village notices and news, post photos and videos, chat with other residents, list animals, goods, businesses and jobs, file complaints, and apply for certificates, schemes and tax records. The app is operated by Gav App ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what the features you use need. Information you enter or upload is sent to our server at gavapp.com (media files are served from media.gavapp.com).

Do not upload documents or details you are not comfortable sharing with your Gram Panchayat. Information you post publicly, such as posts and comments, can be seen by other users and may be copied by them.
3. Device permissions
- Camera – to take a profile photo, post, complaint photo or document photo. Used only when you choose to take one.
- Photos and videos (media access) – to let you pick images and videos from your gallery to upload. We only read the files you select.
- Internet – to talk to our server.
The app can also open the system file picker so you can attach documents. You can turn permissions off any time in your phone settings; the related feature will then not work.
4. What we do not collect
- We do not use your phone's GPS or precise location. Your district, taluka, village and ward are details you select yourself.
- The app does not show advertising and does not include advertising or third-party analytics tools.
- The app does not use Firebase push notifications and does not collect a push (FCM) token. If we add push notifications in future, we will update this policy first.
- We do not sell your personal information.
5. How we use information
- To run the app: log you in, show your village's content and let you post, chat, list and apply.
- To let Gram Panchayat officials receive, process and answer your complaints and applications.
- To send OTP messages and, where a Gram Panchayat chooses, service messages such as application updates or birthday greetings.
- To keep the service safe: prevent misuse, remove unlawful or abusive content and fix faults.
- To comply with the law.
6. Who can see your information
- Other users see what you post or list publicly, and your name, village and profile photo where they appear.
- Your Gram Panchayat (its administrators and authorised staff) sees profile details and the complaints, certificate, scheme and tax requests you submit to it.
- Service providers that host our server and store media files on our behalf and may process data only to provide that service.
- Authorities, if we are legally required to disclose information.
We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
7. Storage and security
Data is sent to our server over HTTPS (encrypted in transit). Login tokens are stored on your device so you stay logged in, and are cleared when you log out. No system is perfectly secure, so please protect your phone and do not share your OTP with anyone.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data linked to it by following the steps on the Delete account page. Some records, such as certificates already issued or tax entries kept by the Gram Panchayat, may have to be retained where the law or official record-keeping requires it. Copies in backups are removed on the normal backup cycle.
9. Your rights
Under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, have it erased, withdraw consent, and raise a grievance. You can edit most profile details inside the app. For anything else, write to us using the contact details below.
10. Children
Gav App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. Users under 18 should use the app with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information without such consent, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the app or on this page.
